Phase 1 Research Summary
The Research Summary for the Urban Forest Management Plan consisted of a series of planning elements to inform the primary framework of the plan. These planning elements included research into existing policies and plans, a deep dive into City workflows and operations, establishing benchmarks based on City conditions, industry standards and comparable communities, analysis of existing data, and feedback and perceptions of the public. Outcomes of these planning elements informed a comprehensive audit of Tacoma's urban forest in terms of management, sustainability, and equity. This audit, developed by the U.S. Forest Service and tailored to Tacoma informed the Urban Forest Management Plan goals, targets, and actions to improve shortcomings and leverage existing strengths.
